The whole world was inclined toward digital services & benefits .The gap of understanding the pros and cons for both start up and service based IT companies was filling .As the immense amount of knowledge was evolving in the job market during COVID 2020.

The time when student use to feel lucky if they become the part of campus selection .The journey was not easy with no clarity.. ..
As a student the priority was in hand salary and photo in campus placement board .Some of them had to try harder but the aim was clear just to grab a job without realizing the fact that still too many choices would appear and based on the choices rest career will be defined .
The information & Technology (IT ) sector is endless regarding the choice of domain, technology and the job role .Even the organizations are not clear about it.,Its the employee who need to put more effort .But the question is as A fresher ,still direction needed where they can put their efforts. Mostly, in service based companies ,the management keep them as blind and task oriented .
This practices got changed After COVID 2020.During the lockdown ,every thing become virtual and digital upgraded .
Mass hiring,200% -300% salary hikes became normal .Python was the king of both IT or any product based company .Apart from that,YouTube tutorials and online courses made every thing easy to understand .
It was totally different from the last 5 to 6 years of traditional IT practices.
The gap of understanding the pros and cons for start up and service based IT companies was filling.As the immense amount of knowledge was evolving in the job market .
lets discuss these pons & cons to continue your journey among Start Ups & Service Based Company considering both layoffs ,hiring ,automation and AI generative .
1.Role & Responsibilities
In terms of role and responsibilities,I would give preference to startups and product based companies .
the employee would know what he is doing and in which direction he is working.His responsibilities would be very much clear and it will make sense when it comes for appraisals or any interview for company switch .There is significant importance of roles & responsibilities
2.Payment &In hand salary
Mostly in the service-based company,We observed very closely that , in hand salary would be divided into too miscellaneous categories to justify the reduced amount of salary .For additional task or work ,the process of claim would be too tricky and time taking .Where everything can get automate easily ,why does the company not initiating the automation of some of the claim and payment related application ,as it takes a lot of time to do follow ups in case of mistakes .
In start-ups,Apart from In hand salary you would get incentives ,night shift allowance ,the pay slips are not too tricky so that you don’t get to question that where is my all salary goes.
3. Work Pressure
In start up ,it depends on proficiency of skillet you may feel work pressure if you don’t know how to solve issues .Deadline and extending work hour are the major drawbacks of product based companies .
In service-based,Yes there is less work pressure but that work pressure compensate by the micromanagement done by senior management .
4.Work Environment & Ethics
In start up ,you don’t get time to evaluate thing around you just do your work and go home .
But in service-based, targeting one member ,seniority ,gender specific or personal issues comes in between the professional life .
5.Job Security
It was old times there used to be a myth about strong job security in service based companies .As per the latest layoff and forced resignation of employee of the giant companies including FAANG .The layoffs in FAANG was a shock .Generally FAANG companies used to be the product based companies with greater job security .
The myth changed at the end of 2023 and still in contnuation ,when huge number of employees was forced to resign or got laidoff.So Job security in both service based and prodcut based /start up are un predictable.It depends on market demand and core technical boom.
Summery :
Every person is designed in a different way ,some are very good at social skills.Dealing with politics and managing people are way easy to them .They can opt for service based company.
But the person who is dedicated to learning new things along with hands one experience and want to earn more without being judged on his enthusiasm with less personal responsibilities can opt start ups.
